Behooved!

A little while back, Lucas said it behooved me to leave a note on the spooky Mad Max truck. And I have finally done it. In fact, I am now behooved to a lifetime of note-leaving, having crafted these Nosey calling cards:

There's more info on the back, so they're not as stalkerish as they look. I hope you can tell that's supposed to be a nose on there. Maybe I should have done a nostril.

Anyway, I'm not hugely optimistic about a response from the truck owner (I kind of flung the card through a crack on to the passenger seat, and I'm not sure he'll even find it), but it was exciting nonetheless.

Dear Nosey,
I Love your blog, it's excellent. I am consumed by curiosity about the trucks too.I ride past them every day. Have you noticed the big tangled rusty pedal powered thing in the back? I'm sure there is a connection with the Artists workshop across the road.

Thanks for the compliments guys!

Sydney Body Art Ride: Do you mean the buildings right next to Ausscrap? Are they artist workshops (I've always wondered what they are)? Or do you mean the Flour Mill Studios on the other side, against the railway line? I've already asked a guy there if he knew anything about the trucks and he said no. (Incidentally, the artists at the Flour Mill have been turfed out to make way for 'executive' studios apparently.)

The big rusty pedal thing is what makes this second truck spookier than the first. At first I thought it might power the crane attachment on the back, but on closer inspection, I'm not so sure.

I think the rusty pedal-mobile is fantastic. In fact, I think it's more than fantastic - I think it's magic. Every time I see it, I picture them stopping the truck in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of the night. They get out, and jump on the back. As they start pedalling away at their rusty contraption, the truck hovers, and ascends, floating past the moon in that eerie ET way that I used to find so spooky.

Of course, I'm sure that's what everybody thinks.

More photos and a story on the magic bike, please!

Yeah I want to see a photo of the pedal. And I too love the stationery! It's tops. Please post me one although I am not in the neighbourhood.

the calling cards are perfect!!! You should leave them all over town. And the nose does look like a nose. I would never mistake it for, say, a sticky tape dispenser.

Yes, that's nose alright!

Are you going to write on them using cut out pieces of newspaper like a ransom note?!

Love the stamp action too! You should get a date stamp so they're date stamped...

I think that's what I mean. I'm still trying to work out where Auscrap is. I'll look more attentively tomorrow.
I put pictures of the truck on my blog, nice fresh ones from this morning.
BTW make sure you watch Chaser on ABC at 9pm (Wednesday), it's our best episode so far this year.

Those pics are great! Everyone who wanted to see the pedal machine should check them out. It's quite a hard creature to capture on film.
