Performing bears

Just when I thought I'd seen busking taken to new heights with the artists painting their way to Holland last week, along come Bi-Polar Bear and Shy Polar Bear, performing today outside the Newtown Neighbourhood Centre.

It was both baffling and brilliant. They didn't actually appear to be collecting any money.

I think the bears may be related to Pterodactyl Man and Pterodactyl Boy, who I haven't seen in quite some time, but who I think about often because of this stencil art on Gladstone Street.

I ran past the Neighbourhood centre a week ago and their was a table and chairs set up with some hummous, and a taped sign saying "free" (I suspect there had been more food).

I also witnessed an amazing solo performance by the bi-polar bear (sometime in mid 2006 I think). My friend shot this video with his phone:

I've heard about a couple of other sightings too- all in the same spot, but not for a while. Someone I know actually followed (stalked?)bi-polar part of the way down Enmore road just to see where he was heading after a performance one evening. He stayed in his suit and in character the whole time... So, so awesome.
