In an Enmore Road laundromat:

What a great service.

what does "close the howl" actually mean?!

I think it's supposed to be "close the hole". Although one of their other services is "patching", and you'd think they would be the same thing.

i read that as "close the hood", for all those who decide they no longer need the versatility of a hood to pop over their head...

...or wish to remain super-anonymous by having the entire hood enclose their head.

My jumper has a howl, but it is a very small howl, more of a whimper you could say. i reckon it would only take 26 mins max to fix, which makes this service a bargain. Where is this sign nosey? I am heading down there with a whole bag of howly knit wear.

well, you could close a howl by sewing the edges together, rather than applying a patch.

I think it's actually a literary service offering to close Ginsberg's legendary poem.
Although I'm not quite sure how you close a poem, it sounds like quite a bargain.
