Picking up where we left off

First of all, thank you to everyone who left a comment on my last entry. It was lovely to see how many people will go on remembering Theo.

Secondly, my apologies for the long silence since my last entry. After a Nosey hiatus, I am definitely back and will be posting as often as possible again. Thanks for all the emails encouraging me to return - much appreciated!

It's been interesting to note what has changed in my absence. A couple of new shops on King Street, a couple more closed down, some new graffiti, some of my favourite old graffiti painted over. But there's still so much to discover in the unchanged things, so familiar that I don't even notice them anymore. No matter how many times I look at those painted tiles outside the Neighbourhood Centre, I always find new favourites, and I've never noticed these written ones before:

I really, really like that one. It sums up why I always feel so weary whenever I hear anyone railing against Newtown being over-run with yuppies/junkies/day-trippers/mothers' groups/goths/whatever the target du jour is. It is the product of its inhabitants and grows and changes with them. Group hug, anyone?

I also like this one, if only because of the reference to cat-swinging:

And this one appealed greatly to my noseyness:

It's true - look!
